You’re still alive. And maybe that makes you still lucky as hell.
Batman had Alfred.
Luke had Yoda.
We all need a trusted confidant.
Even the strongest among us couldn’t do it alone.
Is sometimes you get burned.
And it makes difficult to extend that to others again.
But if we don’t ever take a chance, you’ll always end up alone.
When we hear noise, we don’t assume it is footsteps. But too often, we think it’s a pack of zebras. We can’t turn this off. But we can respond to it to make a better, more informed decision.
It’s funny the pace of life. We move in such a fast pace, therefore, experience time faster. Yet, we think we have this all under control, understand what is happening all around us, have a handle on it, and ignore the blind spots. Sometimes, we discover that something right in front of us was the thing we didn’t know we were missing. And sometimes, we will find that’s the very thing we been looking for all along.
Figuring out what works is essential on the path of better. Because once we understand how things are done around here, we can make them better.
You can’t make an itch go away if you leave it alone. The problem is the temporary relief of scratching an itch. The trick then becomes how long can you hold that tension of scratching the itch.
The false hope is that tension will permanently go away. But the reality is, how do we deal with this tension. Because as soon as it goes away, more is to come.
I saw screenshot online that showed that Neo played by Keanu Reeves in The Matrix had a driver’s license that expired on 9/11/2001. Of course; that is just coincidence but it doesn’t stop humans from drawing a line to make a connection. The point is, for good and bad, we have no limits on the leaps we are willing to make.
It’s difficult to see in the moment if you are in a sunk cost or if you need to keep going.
The difference is understanding if the path is a dead end or if there truly is a path forward.
